In 2012 I will attempt to finish my first marathon, and not just any marathon, the Boston marathon. I will be running for the Melanoma Foundation, a charity that looks at Melaonma with an upstream focus and created to combat the rising rate of melanoma and melanoma deaths. They provide educational programs targeting the prevention and early detection of skin cancer and melanoma for both children and adults! My goal is to raise $10,000 for them, and any amount helps. You can purchase burpees for $50 each, and there is only 351 343 of them available! I will do all the burpees over the course of the marathon, so the more you donate, the more pain I get to endure :) You can also donate for the heck of it, or because you support the cause but not suffering!

Where does your money go?

100% of your donation goes to the Melanoma Foundation of New England. Runners pay out of pocket for their training costs as well as entry fees. Every cent you donate goes to upstream education about melanoma! Just think how much that saves in future health care costs!

How will you spend your money?
  • $10 You can’t even go to the movies for ten bucks anymore. Catch the movie on Netflix, and put your money to better use.
  • $25 Just a little under a dollar a mile. Better me than you trying to run that many miles, right?
  • $50 Probably less than what you spend on your cell phone bill each month, plus this can buy you a burpee along the course!
  • $75 And how much is your cable bill?
  • $100 About the price of two grandstand Red Sox tickets—if you could even get your hands on them! Watch the Patriot’s Day game on TV instead, and then come into Boston to cheer on the runners!

Could it get any better?
Hell yes! All your donations are 100% tax deductible! Want to double your donation? Ask your company’s HR department about donation matching!
